What is Ashtanga Mysore?
Ashtanga Mysore (pronounced “My Sore”) is a silent practice where students who are familiar with the Primary Series can practice at their own pace and receive individual guidance from their yoga teacher. Students may arrive anytime during the class period and begin their practice. When the student gets to a posture that they need help with or want to explore further, the teacher will provide personal assistance. There is no verbal instruction in the class except for the personal instuction that students receive individually. Mysore classes are highly recommended for serious Ashtanga Yoga students who want to deepen their practice and receive individual guidance. The practice of “Mysore” is named for Mysore, India, where Pattabhi Jois lives and teaches.
