What is ASA’s background and what does the name ASA mean?
ASA began in 1994 with friendships and projects in the Greater Boston Area. ASA stands for three things: 1) We are developing a Website concept — All Services & Activities, www.ASA4U.com — to build an Online Community. 2) Our Members Network, including Campus Groups, is named the Association of Systems Analysts. 3) Adaptive Systems Analysis, www.AdaptiveAnalysis.com, is a branch of ASA dedicated to sophisticated Problem Solving that often involves Physics, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Machine Vision, Fuzzy Logic, Genetic Algorithms, Fractals, Chaos, Complexity and Systems Theories. The name ASA comes from History. King Asa was a very good ruler over an ancient kingdom in the Middle East in approximately 910-869 BC. King Asa reigned over a nation that lost its moral underpinnings and helped to restore its ethical direction. We look to his example for inspiration and as a role model for us as individuals and as an organization.
