What is Artificial Gravity?
Artificial gravity is a replication of gravity which is used to make people in space more comfortable. When artificial gravity is used, people experience conditions similar to those on the surface of the Earth. In addition to making people feel more secure in their environment, the use of artificial gravity also reduces the problems associated with prolonged periods of weightlessness, including loss of muscle tone. Science fiction has explored the idea of artificial gravity for a long time, and numerous depictions of artificial gravity can be seen in works of science fiction. For films and television shows, it’s easier to film people in an environment similar to that found on Earth than it is to mimic low-gravity conditions, adding incentive to incorporate the presence of artificial gravity into the plot. The mechanisms used are usually imperfectly explained, illustrating how challenging it is to create artificial gravity which will work effectively. One of the most straightforward way
Artificial gravity is the name given to the use of centripetal force to simulate gravity in space. This is applied in space stations through the use of a rotating drum or wheel that gently throws the passengers outward enough for them to keep from floating and be able to walk on the outer wall like a floor. A similar effect can also be achieved through electromagnets to connect them to the metal surface at will through the use of an electric current.
True, natural gravity is a distortion of space-time caused by the presence of any mass. We can’t generate that kind of real gravity yet, but artificial gravity can be experienced simply by getting in an elevator. When an elevator first starts going up, that extra weight you feel for a little while is due to the elevator accelerating upward and feels like artificial gravity.
no such thing. it is science fiction. but if you had to produce a similar effect to that of gravity in a 0 gravity situation then centrifugal force is the most likely candidate for artificial gravity. shape you craft like a drum, spin it, and the centrifugal force with draw you towards the outside.
