What is arranging and what does an arranger do?
Arranging is the art and process of molding a song into a popular form by using specific musical concepts and methods designed to enhance the melody, lyrics and presentation. There is a wide array of elements an arranger must consider when developing an arrangement for a song. A few of these elements are key signature, rhythmic underpinning, music style and instrumentation, to name but a few. An arranger’s job is to take a song and give it the overall musical feel and sound that it needs to have to be popular, powerful and effective. HMM works with songwriters and artists that need arranging for song demos and CD releases.
