What is Aramark and what is Yale’s relationship with it?
Aramark is a food services management company. From 1999 to 2007, Aramark had a contract to manage Yale University Dining Services (YUDS). Aramark did not sell food to Yale, nor did it buy ingredients for Yale. Throughout the relationship, Yale had the final say over what it bought. During 2007, Yale ended its relationship with Aramark. Yale University Dining Services has begun a transition to become a self-operated dining service. This transition builds on Yale’s ongoing commitment to increased student satisfaction, excellence in operations, sustainability in the dining halls, and strong staffing. During this transition, all operations will continue as normal in Yale’s residential college dining halls, at the graduate schools, and at Yale Catering.
