AQL (Associative Query Logic) is the patented technology used in QlikView software for associating data when queries are made to the QlikView data structure. AQL technology promotes non hierarchical data analysis as opposed to the predominant OLAP technology which is used by most BI software vendors on the market today. The non hierarchical technology of AQL provides analysis where queries do not have to be made in a specific order (i.e. year-quarter-month). Using AQL, any value of the data structure can be the starting point of the query.
