What is appropriate for a guest to wear to a specifically requested upon invitation, Black Tie Wedding?
Women should wear formal dresses and heels. They can be knee length cocktail dresses, or full-length gowns. And the heels can be open or close-toed, doesn’t matter; just don’t wear flats or flip-flops! Men should wear a tuxedo or nice suit and tie. In addition to what Pauline had mentioned, when shopping for the right dress, keep in mind that it’s more of a cocktail attire as opposed to a Sunday’s best look. By stressing to be more conservative would be safe, but that doesn’t mean you can’t glam your outfit with a little with jewelry. Black Tie doesn’t necessarily mean that you can only wear black, especially you ladies. Use your best judgment. What about a Destination Wedding or a Tropical Location? If it’s on a beach keep it light and airy. Men don’t have to wear ties and women don’t have to wear formal dresses.
