What is Applied Biosystems position in proteomics?
For years Applied Biosystems has been a leading provider of instruments for analyzing proteins. AB’s product portfolio for studying proteins includes: mass spectrometers (instruments that, at the most basic level, identify proteins based on determining their mass); liquid chromatography and other systems for separating proteins prior to mass analysis; chemical (Edman) sequencers; and bioinformatics. Proteomics is a relatively new term that refers to studying many proteins simultaneously. AB is aggressively investing in a new generation of tools that are designed to deliver what AB refers to as ‘factor of ten’ improvements to protein analysis.
