APA is the abbreviation for the American Psychological Association, the group that determines how you should cite your sources when you write a paper for a subject in the social sciences (sociology and psychology, for example). You can consult the current edition of the APA Handbook for guidelines. Just remember not to use APA for a humanities paper or MLA for a social sciences paper.
