What is antibiotic resistance, and why should I be concerned with it?
Antibiotic resistance is the capability of an organism to survive the harmful effects of antibiotics [6]. Experts say that although this process itself is inevitable, there ways in which we can significantly prevent antibiotic organisms from thriving and becoming a global threat; methods such as public education and infection control [14][2][3]. Even today, infectious diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in the world, and this is especially true in developing countries, where access to adequate health resources are often deficient [10][13]. So you see, evidence of bacteria becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics creates increasing obstacles for treatment of certain infections.
