What is Anti-shock?
An anti-shock CD uses memory to read-ahead and store a part of the track you are playing. This means if the player gets knocked, and the laser can’t read the disc, it plays from memory until the laser has ‘caught up’. This all happens in the background with you ever knowing! Anti-shock CD player’s also have a nice hidden benefit. Because of the way anti-shock CD players work, they tend to have more success with CD’s that are dirty or scratched. This is because the laser generally has time to go back and try to read the disc again.
