What is anonymity in the internet?
While surfing the internet a user leaves data traces that enable the reconstruction of their personal surf behavior at any time. This information can be gathered by the provider or by secretly observing third parties. Apart from the opportunity to protect the contents by encoding, even the emerging of connection data should be avoided by use of an effective anonymization in the sense of the principle of data minimization. Anonymity in the internet means that one is not identifiable to persons other than those one communicates with or third parties one has revealed to. Therefore, requests towards data providing servers remain discrete and permit e.g. psychological advise via internet or all communication relationships between customers and vendors that are based on an effective identity management.
