What is and will I need hyperbaric treatments?
For some patients this advance treatment modality is needed to help heal their wound. This highly specialized treatment works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure. This increases the amount of oxygen in the patients blood and, in the case of wounds, allows read blood cells to pass more easily through the plasma into the wound to heal it form the inside out. Diabetic foot wounds are an excellent example of wounds that may benefit most from this type of treatment. Hyperbaric treatments are for approximately 10 percent of those that suffer wound healing issues. The majority of our patients will not need hyperbaric, but for those that do, this state-of-the-art technology is a huge benefit to the community.
