What is an “Unverified” song?
When you include songs on your Copy Report which are write-ins, and we don’t have the complete information, such as the copyright owner or the correct copyright details, the song becomes “unverified”. When the Report is completely processed, a list is provided of all the “unverified” songs to publishers upon request so they may review it for songs which may belong to them. If a song does belong to them, they will provide us with the correct information, which we then enter in the song database, and the song becomes “verified”. If the song is not claimed, it remains “unverified”. Copying an “unverified” song is up to you. We cannot give permission to do so.
