What is an Underwater Artificial Reef?
Neptunes Pets mixes pets cremains into a special concrete, which we then mold into a specifically designed structures that act as an artificial reef. We call our structures or modules PetReefs. As you may know, ocean reefs are vital to the health of our planet. Ocean reefs around the world are being damaged or destroyed by carelessness and sometimes even done so intentionally. PetReefs give marine life on the sunlit sandy bottom a solid structure to grab onto while they slowly rebuild their ecosystems. As the plant life accumulates on the artificial reef, small fish arrive to feed, live, and reproduce. These smaller fish attract larger fish and so goes the cycle as the new reef grows and adds to our Planet Earths fragile ecosystem. Artificial Reefs supplement Mother Natures otherwise slow struggle to build natural ocean reefsand to replace damaged or destroyed reefsone tiny polyp at a time.
