What is an undergraduate research internship?
Undergraduate research projects are usually undertaken after a student has completed most of his/her undergraduate courses. It is an intense examination of a particular topic or issue and requires access to actual business processes. How will my graded be determined? For internships and undergraduate research, students will be graded on (a) a weekly log that briefly details work accomplished and learning goals achieved (1 – 2 paged typed report) and (b) a culminating paper/report/project that is due the first day of finals week. Students must have their culminating paper/report/project topic approved by Dr. Parker when they submit their application. For cooperative field experience (VITA internship), student must (a) attend the training sessions and pass the IRS qualifying exam for volunteer tax assistance, (b) complete 30 hours of volunteer work and (c) submit a brief paper describing their learning experience from participating in the program.
