Cord blood refers to the blood left in the placenta and umbilical cord after a baby is born and the cord is cut. It is rich in stem cells that have been used to treat over 70 different diseases including leukemia and lymphomas. Cord blood stem cells are also used in clinical trials and are being investigated for treatment of Diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, and Cerebral Palsy.
