What is an Order of Protection Against Harassment in the Workplace?
Harassment in the workplace is when a person threatens or causes: • Bodily injury to himself or an person; • Damage to the property of another person; or • Substantial harm to the physical or mental health or safety of a person; The threat or act must be against an employer, an employee while performing duties of employment, or a person present at the workplace of the employer. The threat must also cause a reasonable person to feel terrorized, frightened, intimidated or harassed. If this occurs, an employer may file an application for a temporary order for protection against harassment in the workplace. If an employer knows that you, specifically, have been the target of harassment in the workplace, the employer must try to notify you before seeking an order for protection.
