What is an ORAC score, and why is it important?
The term ORAC actually is an abbreviation for “Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity”. We all understand that “free radicals” are bad. They contribute to many health problems, such as heart disease, cancer, premature aging, and perhaps even degenerative diseases. Conversely, “antioxidants” are good, because they assist our body in defending itself against free radicals. ORAC is how scientific laboratories measure how well a particular antioxidant can defend itself against free radicals. The labs assign a number to each antioxidant, with higher numbers meaning that the substance has stronger antioxidant properties. Let’s look at the ORAC values for 3 common fruits (fruits generally have the highest antioxidant properties). Assuming 100 grams of each fruit, here are the approximate ORAC values: apples: 210 ORAC bananas: 221 ORAC blueberries (commonly known as an excellent antioxidant): 2,400 ORAC So, what about the Acai Berry, which comprises 54% of our FiGo Juice™ formula?
