What is an OPD valve?

0

OPD is short for “Overfill Prevention Device”. In the past propane tanks which were not equipped with an OPD valve were easily overfilled, resulting in hazardous grilling conditions. Up-to-date tanks which are equipped with an OPD valve are impossible to overfill, resulting in a much safer grilling environment. It is now a Federal law that all 20 lb BBQ propane tanks are equipped with an OPD valve. Any tanks that are not equipped with an OPD valve are out-of-date, obsolete and cannot be re-filled.
