What is an online course like and how is it taught?
Lecture notes are typically released each week and may serve to guide you through your accompanying textbook readings, when applicable. To assess your understanding of each week’s topic, you may be required to submit short written assignments. Depending upon which course you are taking, you may be asked to research a particular topic and present and discuss it with your classmates on the class discussion board. Class interactions are usually asynchronous, meaning not held at a particular time, and are conducted on the discussion board or via email. Live chat sessions with the faculty (also known as “online office hours”) are also available to students. If the student is not able to attend one of the live chat sessions, then they have the option of reviewing the chat transcripts at a later time.
