You can think of an ODBC driver as being similar to a printer driver. Just as you need to have the right printer driver installed for your application to be able to use your printer, Microsoft Excel needs the right ODBC driver to be installed in order to connect to your database. And just like you need to use the Printer Setup Utility to configure your printer before you can use it, you will need to use the ODBC Administrator utility to configure your ODBC connection before Excel can connect to your database.
