There are two Obliques the inner and outer obliques both are stomach muscles, could be many of these over priced athletes are too fat and out of shape. If the muscle is not properly maintained through exercise they can easily be strained! With all the injuries that happen with in any major sport one would think that team owners would require better physical conditioning of their millionaires by requiring them to spend more time in the gym as part of that big payoff contract!
