An MIT ID is a unique number created for you when you submit Part 1 of your application and is used by the Admissions Office as part of your record. If you choose to submit a paper Part 1 instead of an online Part 1, and you have not yet registered for a MyMIT account, the Admissions Office will send you a confirmation letter which contains your personal MIT ID number. You should use this MIT ID to create a MyMIT account to ensure your MyMIT account links up with your record in our database. Simply go to my.mit.edu and click on the “New User? Register now!” button. When the form appears, click on the link that says “I have an MIT ID” and enter your last name and MIT ID. Entering this information will link your new MyMIT account to your existing record in our database. A MyMIT account is important, since it is where you can submit Part 2 of the application online, track the receipt of application materials, and access your interviewer’s contact information.
