An ISO or disk image is a file that contains a complete copy of a CD. ISO images are often provided so you can burn your own bootable CD install discs for an operating system (such as Windows or Red Hat Enterprise Linux). Once you download the ISO image to your hard drive, you can burn your own copy of the CD. Note: You can not simply drag and drop an ISO image file on your CD icon to create a bootable CD. In order to create a bootable CD from an ISO image, you must burn the actual CD image onto the CD. Burning the ISO file to a CD will not produce a usable disc.
