What is an inverter compressor and what are the benefits?
An inverter compressor is designed to vary its speed as the heat load in the room changes. Inverter compressors are designed to soft start, therefore, causing no dips in power supply and less “start up wear”. As the compressor speed decreases, the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator also decreases. This results in a more comfortable environment as the unit only produces the appropriate amount of cooling required at that time – reducing temperature swings. Inverter compressors have been shown to reduce power consumption by as much as 60% when compared to conventional fixed speed equivalents.
