What is an Invar shadow mask?
• Invar is made of a special heat-resistive alloy. The shadow mask monitors use three colored (red, green and blue ) phosphor dots, surrounded by a solid metallic mask with holes. An Invar shadow mask is also less susceptible to distortion due to the heat caused by electrons passing through the shadow mask. • What is an Aperture Grille? • A technology developed by Sony (Trinitron) where alternating red, green and blue phosphor lines are used instead of phosphor dots. These lines are separated by a series of thin wires called an aperture grille.
