What is an intrusion alarm system?
An intrusion alarm system is a combination of devices who’s combined function is to detect entry into, passage near or proximity to a protected area by an intruder. The protected area is the area (exterior, perimeter or interior) that the intrusion alarm system is designed to monitor. Most intrusion alarm systems are designed with a ‘layered’ approach. For example; Early exterior warning from a fence climbing alarm & early exterior warning from intruders crossing electric beams (area sensors), perimeter alarms from door, window or other on building sensors (point sensors), interior alarms from motion detectors or glass break detectors, etc. (volumetric detectors).
