What is an Internet Mail Alias?
An Internet Mail alias is a feature which allows you to shorten your default Internet address, for the convenience of friends and colleagues who wish to send you mail from outside FirstClass. For example, you may want to use your first name or last name only, or a nickname. Your alias will appear in the “from” field of each message you send to an internet address. To configure your alias, send a message to alias,Internet with a subject line containing the requested alias. It is best to stick to letters and numbers only (no characters). See the picture example above. You can only have one alias for yourself. Your default address will continue to work, so you can have internet mail directed to you at: firstname_lastname@umit.maine.edu OR alias@umit.maine.edu Once created, you should NOT change your alias. By creating a second alias for yourself, your first alias will no longer be valid. Any external mail sent to your old alias will be returned as undeliverable, and you will run into cons
