What is an Internet Chat Room?
A teenage Internet chat room is like a school cafeteria with lots of kids talking to each other in groups or just one-on-one chatting about last night’s TV show, answers to the biology test, or the upcoming big party. However, unlike a real cafeteria, the chatting takes place with members connected to the same computer (or server) and this allows users to have conversations with people from all over the world. Because the location is universally accessible, so are the participants in any of these chats. Because of this, there are dangers that parents need to be aware of.
