What is an interesting example of commensalism in animals?
Examples of commensalism: – A bird makes its home in a hole in a tree. Birds do not attack the tree, nor do they ward off animals that would eat parts of the tree, so the tree is neither helped nor harmed. – Certain types of mites live in our beds and feed off of our skin, but they are so tiny and eat so little that we don’t notice. This might be an interesting one to research. – Some millipedes hitch a ride on birds in order to be transported to different places. This same phenomenon has been observed in mites on insects.
