What is an Individual Behaviour Plan (IBP)?
An IBP is an important document that sets out a plan for supporting an individual child in improving their behaviour. It is a planning and reviewing tool. It should include:- – Targets set and strategies to help the child access education more effectively. – Identify the pupil`s strengths and skills – Identify the areas of concern – Specify what will be done by the school to support change: eg. Resources, activities, specific arrangements and rewards – Show how this will be monitored and recorded – Show how you as a parent/carer can be involved – Include some ideas of what your child will be expected to do and what arrangements will be made to review progress IBPs need to be reviewed frequently. This will often be done by school staff, child and parent/carer, possibly on a daily basis. However, there should be a full review of progress at least half termly.
