I would give more significance to the Pleistocene Ice Age. The Himalayan Orogeny is an important event, but the folded mountain building processes is not unique to Tertiary alone. Moreover, Himalayan Orogeny is not restricted to Tertiary but continued till today, i.e. during Quarternary Period.
