What is an image log, and how can we interpret image log data?
This topic is outside the scope of the course. An image log is similar to a dipmete log, except the pads typically measure sonic characteristics. One of the primary motivations for running image logs is to determine fractures (depths, orientations). Fractures can be filled with fluid (mud filtrate) and thus give a distinct sonic response that is used to make the interpretation.
