The Individual Educational Plan is a working document about what will be done to meet the needs of your child. It does not cover the day-to-day details. You should receive an IEP for each reporting period (3 times per year for elementary schools, 2 times per year for semestered secondary schools, and 2 or more times for non-semestered secondary schools). If the child is identified as gifted by an Identification, Placement, and Review Committee (IPRC), by regulation, an Individual Educational Plan is required. Educational interventions may always be undertaken without an IEP or without formal identification: a teacher sees a need and responds.
