What is an HRIS? What are important factors to consider when choosing an HRIS?
HRIS stands for Human Resources Information System. This is similar to a Management Information System, except that it focuses on Human Resource concerns. HRIS systems track data about employees and applicants to make information retrieval faster and easier. They can also be used to help remain compliant and for many types of reporting. When selecting an HRIS, many factors should be considered. You must take into account system limits and requirements, security, your companys future growth, speed and cost of implementation and maintenance, interfaces with other systems such as payroll, and upgradeability. Other factors depend on what services you want to offer your employees. If Employee Self-Service is a goal, you may want a system which is web-deployable so that your employees can reference information from home as well.
