What is an HID lamp?

0

HID is the three letter acronym for High Intensity Discharge. This is a very generic lamp term as it applies to nearly any lamp that does not emit light via incandescence (a glowing filament). Welch Allyn’s Solarc lamps can be classified as HID. A better description is Metal Halide Lamp, but even this is too broad to correctly describe Solarc Technology.
