What is an heirloom?

0

An heirloom is basically like an old piece of treasured furniture that has been in a family for generations. Valued enough to be passed down, these tomato seeds have been saved and collected over the centuries. They are old varieties that have excellent flavor and vigorous growth so they are able to be planted again year after year. These days the term “heirloom” is used very loosely to describe any tomato that has interesting characteristics and has been grown over the last 50+ years most being open pollinated varieties.
