What is an external exchange?

0

External exchange companies provide point based program members the ability to use vacation time (full 7 day weeks only) owned directly or obtained with their points to exchange for full week(s) vacation time at the exchange companies affiliated resorts. External exchanges cannot be made for less than 7 days with check-in on the appropriate check-in day of the week as dictated by the resort. Only full week reservations are allowed. Most timeshare point based programs provide for membership in an external exchange company that offer full week (7 day) exchanges to accommodations at thousands of affiliated resorts around the world. There is no fee required when the week is deposited with the exchange company. Members generally have 2 years from the time their deposit is made to make or confirm an external exchange reservation. An exchange fee is due from the member when a reservation is made.
