What is an exhaust brake?

Exhaust brakes are available on some Freightliner chassis. An exhaust brake is a vehicle-retarding device that comes in handy in hilly terrain. It helps slow the vehicle, resulting in longer life of the service brakes. I am unable to release my parking brake and can’t determine the problem. The parking brake will not release until there is at least 65 psi of pressure in the brake system. Check the air gauges to make sure that you have at least 65 psi in the air system before releasing the parking brake. If not, contact your nearest service facility.
