What is an evergreen seedling super jumbo plug?
These super jumbo plugs are either [a] identical to our jumbo plug seedlings except they are 2-3 years old and therefore larger, or [b] they were transplanted as plug seedlings into larger trays until the trees have put on significantly more top growth and the roots have “plugged” the dirt in those trays. Super jumbo plugs experience much less stress during transplanting than bareroot trees, and can be planted at almost any time of year. In many situations, fall-planted plugs already have good root development before bud break and put on more growth before the heat of summer sets in. They tend to reach a more mature height at an earlier age, and their well developed and undisturbed root systems make them somewhat more resistant to drought conditions.
