What is an Etching or Photo-Polymer Print?

0

Etching is a traditional intaglio print making technique. A metal plate is prepared with a layer of ground on the surface and then enscribed into. The plate is then placed in an etching solution which etches the image into the plate. After polishing, the plate is then inked up and wiped back before being put through a press with damp paper to create the final hand-made artwork. Photo-polymer is also an intaglio technique with the image developed onto the plate through light transfer through a transparency or negative of the image. The plate is then also inked up and wiped back before printing the final hand-made work on a press.
