What is an EPA Green Power Community?
Green Power Communities are cities and towns where the local government, businesses and residents come together to improve the environment by purchasing renewable energy in amounts that meet or exceed the EPA Green Power Community purchase requirements. By making it a priority to reduce greenhouse gas emissions they are increasing their pride and sense of community while enhancing their image. It is up to the local government to start the process by making a minimum Blue Sky renewable energy purchase to become an EPA Green Power Partner. From there, they can initiate a community-wide campaign to encourage local businesses and residents to buy Blue Sky renewable energy. Pacific Power has assisted multiple communities throughout the Western United States to become EPA Green Power Communities.
