What is an EPA Brownfields Pilot?

0

It is designed to allow States, communities, and other stakeholders in economic redevelopment to work together to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields. The EPA funds up to $200,000 to each pilot to support creative two-year explorations and demonstrations of brownfield solutions. The pilots are intended to provide EPA, States, Tribes, municipalities and communities with useful information and strategies as they continue to seek new methods to promote a unified approach to site assessment, environmental cleanup, and redevelopment. The City of Saginaw has been awarded $200,000 in pilot money from the EPA to help increase redevelopment and create jobs by encouraging private and public investment. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is charge in administering the pilot.
