What is an Endowed Teaching Chair Award?
Broward College was the first community college in the nation to complete an endowed teaching chair capital campaign and the college’s program, now in its 19th year, is considered as a national model. The Broward College Endowed Teaching Chair program is a major effort by the Broward College District Board of Trustees and the Broward College Foundation to demonstrate their commitment to quality instruction by recognizing and fostering faculty excellence with a cash award and a professional development opportunity. Each endowed teaching chair recipient will be awarded $10,000 to be spent within the year. Three – Fourths of this is a cash award and one-fourth is for professional activities, travel, equipment, etc., all of which are designed to improve instruction or enhance the faculty members’ skills.
