Lien claimants must file and Inquiry by SSN before filing an EDEX electronic lien. Only after receiving the inquiry results can you file the EDEX electronic lien. The information received from the EDEX system as a result of your Inquiry by SSN is used to complete your lien. EDEX electronic liens are filed by specific WCAB case number. An EDEX electronic lien automatically places your firm in he DWC official party list as a lien claimant along with the dollar amount and type of lien filed (see the official party list at the WCAB). The electronic lien filed with EDEX replaces the necessity of serving the WCAB with a paper lien document. The local WCAB offices are requesting that you not mail a copy of your lien with the supporting documents, instead keep a paper copy in the hard file so when making an appearance, if it is requested, you can present a paper copy.
