What is an editor? Is a copy editor the same thing?
Editor is the name given to a person who is responsible for the content in a publication, such as a newspaper editor who heads a department. There are many types of editors with broad roles which encompass anything from developing a project, researching the competition and overall review of the document to ghostwriting, indexing or producing the final product. A copy editor may also have an expansive role and reviews written content for clarity, accuracy, spelling, grammar, punctuation, organization and consistency, or may specialize in an area, such as preparing style sheets, to produce a final written product. Bea works with individuals who want editing assistance for their product. She always first provides a critique of the material for what is needed to bring the document to publication. The client then knows what work is ahead. See Question Four for additional information.
