What is an e-book?
An e-book is a book written for distribution on the Internet. E-books are typically written and distributed as PDF files, a format created by Adobe Corp. and read with their widely distributed Adobe Reader. Chances are, you already have a version of Adobe Reader installed on your system. If not, Adobe Reader is free and one of the safest, least obtrusive software products you will ever install on your computer. An e-book is a book or text converted into an electronic format rather than printed as a paperback or hardcover. Many, but not all, e-books are also available in hard copy. In addition to text, e-books may contain illustrations and other graphics, or features unique to their electronic format, such as music, sound effects, animation, hyperlinks, and supplementary materials.
