What is an Autonomous Provider Organisation?
APO status means that Northamptonshire Provider Services will have the ability to operate independently of NHS Northamptonshire (also known as Northamptonshire Teaching PCT), and will act as a sub committee of the NHS Northamptonshire Board. It will develop its own clinical and service strategies and produces its own accounts. This status will also allow Northamptonshire Provider Services to develop our clinical services in pursuit of new business opportunities. Recent examples of this include successfully tendering for the contracts to provide 11 new Sure Start Children’s Centres, and the new Out of Hours service.
