What is an Autoclave, and what does it do?
An autoclave is a machine that uses a combination of heat and pressure to kill all microorganisms that could cause contamination in the tattooing process. It is the preferred method of sterilization for hospitals, doctors and dentists. It is wise when getting tattooed to make sure the studio of your choice uses this method of sterilization. Spore tests are run weekly then sent to a third party testing facility to ensure the autoclave is working properly. In addition, integrator strips should be run with each load to make sure the sterilizer is properly killing all microorganisms.
